Vivascri is a local, offline writing app. It runs on your machine, and your documents
and your PDF library never leave it. This page explains, plainly, what that means and the few places
anything is collected at all.
The app
No account for the free tier. The free app needs no sign-up and no login. Paid tiers
use the customer account Lemon Squeezy creates at checkout.
Nothing is uploaded. Your drafts, your PDFs, the AI drafting, and the grounded
citations all run on your machine. There is no server that sees your writing.
No telemetry. The app does not track usage or send analytics. The only scheduled
network call is the paid tiers' licence check described below.
Optional web fetch, only when you ask. If you paste a DOI, arXiv link, or URL to
add a paper, the app requests that one open-access source (and, for citation lookups you initiate,
the public metadata for it). Nothing about your document is sent; only the identifier you typed.
One-time model download. The local AI models are not inside the installer. On first
launch (or when you pick a model in Settings) the app downloads them from Ollama's public model registry
over the internet. Nothing about you or your documents is sent; it is a plain file download.
Optional cloud AI, only if you connect one. In Settings you can point drafting at
Claude or GPT with your own API key. If you do, the text you ask it to work on goes to that provider under
their terms. This is off by default and the app shows a clear indicator while it is on.
Paid tiers: local retrieval, plus a licence check. Scholar and Pro add stronger
retrieval models that run on your machine. They are unlocked with a licence key issued at purchase by
Lemon Squeezy, and the app confirms that key with Lemon Squeezy's licensing service from time to time.
That check sends the key and basic device information only, never your documents or library. Your
Lemon Squeezy customer account (email, orders, invoices) is held by them under their privacy policy.
This website
No analytics, no cookies. This site runs no analytics script and sets no cookies. It
is hosted on GitHub Pages, whose servers keep ordinary web-server request logs, as any host does.
Fonts are self-hosted. The site serves its own fonts, so visiting it does not
send your IP to a third-party font CDN.
Email, only if you write to us. Mail to support@vivascri.com is forwarded to a
Karami Labs inbox and used only to answer you. We keep no mailing list.
Purchases. Paid tiers are sold through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. They
collect what a purchase needs (email, payment details, billing country for tax) under
their privacy policy. We see your email and order, never
your card number.
