Vivascri
Terms of Use

Plain terms for a local app.

Vivascri is made by Karami Labs in Ontario, Canada. By downloading, installing, or buying Vivascri you agree to these terms. They are written to be read, not skimmed. Last updated 4 September 2026.

1. What Vivascri is

Vivascri is a desktop writing application for Windows. It runs on your own computer. The free tier is complete for a solo writer and needs no account. Paid tiers (Scholar, Pro) add stronger retrieval models that also run on your computer and are unlocked with a licence key. Your documents and library never depend on a Vivascri server; the paid features do need an occasional internet connection to confirm the licence key.

2. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Vivascri on computers you own or control. A paid tier is licensed to one person on up to two of their own computers (for example a laptop and a desktop); a Team purchase is licensed per seat. Paid tiers verify the licence key with Lemon Squeezy's licensing service periodically; if the key cannot be confirmed for an extended time, or the purchase is refunded or the subscription lapses, the paid features switch off and the free tier keeps working. Sharing or publishing a licence key ends it. You may not resell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the software, remove notices from it, or reverse engineer, decompile, or extract its compiled code except where law expressly permits.

3. Your work is yours

Everything you write, every PDF you add, every citation you place belongs to you. Vivascri claims no rights over your documents or your library, and it never receives them: the app has no telemetry and uploads nothing except, for paid tiers, the licence check described in the privacy policy.

4. AI output

Drafting and chat run on a local language model. Model output can be wrong. Vivascri's grounded citations point to real passages in your own PDFs, and the export gate refuses citations with missing source data, but you remain the author and are responsible for checking your work against your sources and your institution's rules on AI assistance. Vivascri is a writing tool, not a substitute for your own judgement.

5. Purchases and payment

Paid tiers are sold through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy is the legal seller for your purchase, processes your payment, and collects and remits any applicable sales tax or VAT; their terms and privacy policy also apply to the transaction. Prices are shown before you pay. Paid tiers are subscriptions, billed yearly or monthly as you choose at checkout: they renew automatically at that interval until you cancel, which you can do at any time from the receipt email or the customer portal. Cancelling stops future charges and keeps your paid features until the end of the period already paid.

6. Refunds

Our refund policy is simple: within 14 days of a purchase, email us and we refund it. Details on that page.

7. Third-party software

Vivascri includes open-source components under their own permissive licences (Ollama, ONNX Runtime, the document editor, and others). Their notices ship inside the app and can be opened at http://127.0.0.1:8765/THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt while it runs. Language models you download (for example Gemma) carry their own terms from their publishers.

8. Updates and availability

We may release updates that change or remove features. Updating is manual: download the new version and replace the old file; your data stays in your user folder. Because the app runs locally, it keeps working even if this website or Karami Labs disappear, but we make no promise of future updates or support beyond answering email in reasonable time.

9. No warranty; limits on liability

Vivascri is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, Karami Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost work, lost grades, or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Vivascri in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted. Keep backups: the app keeps version history in your browser, and exporting a .docx regularly is the safest copy of all.

10. Ending these terms

You may stop using Vivascri at any time; the uninstaller removes it. We may end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 3, 4, 9, and 11 survive.

11. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Questions or problems: support@vivascri.com. We would rather fix a problem than argue about it.
